LexIcon writes in to mention that there is a Tech Job Expo going on from 10AM-5PM tomorrow at the Hilton, 1335 Sixth Ave at 53rd Street. The expo promises piles of tech employers and recruiters from the commercial and government sectors, and their site helpfully notes that security clearance is NOT required for this particular event.

This is a good thing. Not only will this forum be used by the community to get a head start on planning 2008’s HOPE conference, there is also a board dedicated to the threat faced by the Hotel Pennsylvania.

As reported in the New York Daily News, Commercial Property News, and other outlets, plans have been announced to destroy the Hotel Pennsylvania by 2011. The Hotel Pennsylvania, home of all but one of the HOPE conferences, would be replaced with an office tower.
2600 have set up the email address hotel@2600.com to collect names of any and all involved in saving the hotel.
While passing around said Daily News article at yesterday’s meeting, Emmanuel Goldstein proclaimed that “the gauntlet has been thrown.”
