Double X Tech

Posted at 8:30 AM on 8-27-10 by Rob T Firefly

A new group is in the works which may be of interest to NYC2600′s female contingent.

Double X Tech is a group of women in technology, who are actively involved with technology. This is a place for lipstick lexers and pedicured python writers.
We accept anyone who writes code, from professionals to self-taught wannabes, but please leave your marketing jargon and elevator pitch at the door.

For more info on what this group is all about, and to RSVP for their first event on September 29, check out their Meetup page.

Wiki-Conference NYC

Posted at 11:51 AM on 8-5-10 by Rob T Firefly

The 2nd annual Wiki-Conference NYC will take place the weekend of August 28-29, at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

The event, which is hosted by Tisch ITP and supported by Free Culture @ NYU and Wikimedia NYC, will feature panel discussions and lightning talks of interest to the Wikipedia, Open-Source, and Free Culture communities. The call for presenters is still open, and the event is still gestating in true wiki style with the involvement of its participants.

Those interested can learn more about the event at its own wiki entry, and register for it here.
