Leala informs us of a new meetup in the works.
NY Cultural Tech is a cross-disciplinary group of technologists focused on the advancement of emerging technologies from within the domains of public knowledge (government, museums, educational institutions, non-profits and other outwardly focused for-profits). We meet semi-monthly to share what we’ve been working on, or more importantly playing with, to learn from one another, and to enjoy a good stiff drink after work. These are relaxed, cross-collaborative, “get-togethers” and we encourage everyone to bring their laptops and their imaginations as we pool together the brightest minds from across disciplines to refine existing ideas and generate new ones.

David Solomonoff, president of the Internet Society of New York, informs us of an upcoming conference which may be of interest.
With almost two billion people online, the Internet is a catalyst for boundless creativity and growth. But the decisions we make in the coming months and years will determine whether it remains a global platform for innovation and expression for people everywhere.
Join us on June 14 in New York as we set the agenda for the future of an open Internet.
We’ll identify and examine the critical decisions that will shape the future of the Internet:
- Who will help define the Internet’s evolution?
- What role should government and private industry play?
- How do we provide greater bandwidth and access?
- What does online privacy mean in the age of Facebook and Wikileaks?
This is an unprecedented opportunity to network with the thought leaders and policy makers – including Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Vint Cerf – who are designing the global networks of tomorrow and developing the policies that will drive future Internet innovation.
