With her permission, we’re passing along her call for help.

Hello NYC2600! I’m a graduate student in the science journalism program at NYU, and I’m hoping some of you might be able to help me out with a story I’m writing about hacker culture and computer viruses. The article I’m working on is mostly concerned with the future of computer viruses, how hacking has changed throughout the years, and how it might change in years to come. I’m fascinated by the idea that there are loose, headless organizations that bring people from all over the world together for a short time over the Internet to achieve a common goal.

If you have a story about hacking that you think needs to be told, I’d love to hear it. I’m especially interested in learning more about how hacking “attacks” are organized and carried out.
