Important note!
The first Friday of next month just so happens to fall upon January 1st, 2010; New Year’s Day. (For those of you keeping score, it’s been 11 years since the last time this happened, and it won’t happen again for another six.)
Of course, we don’t expect people to give up their New Year’s Day festivities and/or recuperation to come to the 2600 meeting. That being the case, we’ll be doing something extremely rare in the grand scheme of 2600 meetings. The official date for the meeting is being pushed forward a week, to the second Friday in January.
So, come out and enjoy the first 2600 meeting of the 2010s on Friday, January 8! Mark your calendars! Tell your friends! Update your tattoos!
And of course, we at NYC2600.net wish all of you and yours a wonderful holiday season, and a very happy and safe New Year.
We’ll see you in The Future!

Good news for users of Meetup.com! The enterprising Casey has chosen to organize an NYC2600 group on the service, bringing us a full step closer to our eventual takeover of the entire Internet. Click here to begin your enjoyment of the NYC2600 Meetup group.
As always, if you are interested in finding existing NYC2600 collectives on the Internet’s various social networks, or starting a new one where none yet exists, check out our Internet Forums page.

Dot.ret and Emmanuel have found a possible new venue for our post-meeting dinner, and have asked us to help spread the word.
The place is called Dojo’s and it’s on the corner of 4th and Mercer. It’s reportedly owned by the same people as Around the Clock was, it’s got a similar price range, it’s open late, and most importantly it looks like it can accommodate our crowd.
Here are some reviews. As you can see, it gets pretty much the same mix of varied reviews Around the Clock did.

To get there, we’d take the subway to Astor Place as usual. After that we can walk down Lafayette to 4th, make a right, and walk over two blocks. It’ll be on the south side of the street. Alternately we could walk down Broadway, which is one block over.
We figure it’s worth a try. Come with us next week and find out!

Sidepocket, I-baLL and Enamon have sadly confirmed what was heard as whispered rumors last meeting.
Around the Clock diner, the East Village eatery which has been home to our post-meeting dinners for a very long time, has closed its doors. The staff and management have been released, and the owners apparently plan to remodel the place into a four-star type of French restaurant.
We are saddened by the loss of our meeting’s home-away-from-home. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff and management for being so good to us over the years, and wish them all the best in finding new work.
After the jump. please enjoy some photos from our adventures at Around the Clock.
